When A Food Addiction Becomes Insurmountable

You have to control calories in versus calories out when trying to lose weight. If you don’t, you will not be able to get in shape.
Unfortunately, many people do not know how to beat food addictions.
So here is how food addictions become impossible to beat:
1. When you need a sense of safety: Dopamine, a chemical in your brain, provides a sense of safety. And you can get dopamine from a wide variety of sources, including drugs and food. So if you lack safety in your life you could turn to food.
2. Not getting enough sound sleep: Sleep deprivation leads to increased cravings for carbs. And eating too many carbs will not only make you gain weight, but it will also mess up your levels of blood sugar. This can lead to an increased consumption of food.
3. Infrequent feedings: Your body will do best with feedings that are small and frequent. Otherwise, your blood sugar will go up and down. And this sugar roller coaster ride will make hunger and ever increasing issue.
4. Negative emotions: There are too many negative emotions to list here. However, food can cause alterations in your brain chemistry that appease the negativity. Obviously, food isn’t a permanent solution here.
5. A lack of environmental manipulation: Not manipulating your environment will make it very hard for you to win the battle against a food addiction. You see, relying on self control will be a losing battle. You need to change your environment as much as possible.
6. Taking away food groups: You can’t take away a food group from your diet and expect to see good results here. Food group elimination will lead to increased hunger. You see, without balance in your diet your blood sugar will go up and down.
You have to beat your food addiction if you want to succeed here. So make sure you take heed of the advice in this article and most importantly, take action!
