Preparing For A Funeral Service For A Late Loved One
by Guest Author
Death is a certainty and yet we prepare so little for it. Paying respects to the dead is an age old custom that has gradually changed to suit the times. Traditionally, the funeral service used to take place at the church with singing of solemn hymns and a speech. But, the practice has changed over time as an increasing number of people now wish to opt for a customized service for their loved ones.
Organizing a funeral could be a very painful and hard task, particularly immediately after the death of a relative or a friend. A common myth that a service is a legal necessity is incorrect as no law makes it compulsory to conduct a funeral service.
Secondly, many people hold the belief that a service has to be organized in a church, which is also a misconception. It is to be noted that even though traditionally such services were held in a church, with the trend of personalizing, many funeral services are being held within the premises of the departed.
Thirdly, such a personalized service does not mandate presence of a casket or presence of a pastor or clergy to conduct the proceedings.
However, for any such personalized funeral service, you have to take into account the dead person while making the arrangements. Music, should be something that is soft, soothing and from the personal choices of the departed. You could select from a live performance or going with pre recorded music.
There is also a growing trend of exhibiting the personal items of the deceased to display his or her personality to the entire world. Another important factor in any funeral service is an address, whether as a poem, a song or even a speech describing the deceased.
Lastly, it is advisable to give the guests assembled at the service some kind of a memento that will make them recall the memory of the departed forever.
Death is a sensitive time. After all, funerals present the family with a need to transition into moving on with life. Get the best caskets for your loved one’s burial.
