How I Obtained My DVD Player

Me and some dear old friends were passing the time by having lunch the other day. We were at this incredibly popular restaurant downtown. They have a wide variety of music that they play while you eat and enjoy the delicious food. And they way you order your food is pretty cool. You can either go old school, and order straight from the menu, or you can have the chef cook up whatever he thinks is best for you.

All of a sudden, they said they were going to give away lots of prizes and gifts. We weren’t aware of it, but this was the restaurant’s one year anniversary. The gift giving was to thank all the customers for being loyal, and allowing the restaurant to stay profitable in these tough economic times. They were going to draw the numbers by lottery, and then give the prizes to the customers. I could hardly contain myself, I was so excited.

And with a big clap of artificial thunder, they revealed the magical prizes. First prize was this portable DVD player. Over the past few years, this little devils have become incredibly popular and well liked by many people, and for many fantastic reasons. One of the most popular uses is to use them on long car trips. The kids can watch DVDs in the back seat, and not bother mom and dad who are up front arguing over where to stop for lunch, or why the gas tank is suddenly empty.

And not only families can benefit from these fantastic things. Anybody who finds themselves in a boring situation can easily save themselves some grief by using one of these fantastic portable DVD players. This was illustrated to me in a story by my dining companion. At his University you could rent lectures on DVD. And when he attended lectures from his more boring instructors, he would watch the interesting ones on his DVD.

Another fantastic example is when you get called for jury duty. Instead of sitting around all day wondering if they are going to call your name, you could use a DVD player to help pass the time. I’m sure you can see how useful this can be to keep your sanity while waiting in that utterly boring jury duty room.

When the time came to give away the portable DVD player, I was really hoping I’d win it. Both my friends have one, but I don’t. When they called the winner of the portable DVD player, and I realized it was me, I was happier than a clam. I will always make it a point, from now on, to eat at that restaurant at least once a week. They now have a loyal customer for life.
