Perhaps the movie might have been better without the relatively uninteresting subplot. After all, you just came for the kung fu, right? But nevertheless, it still remains a classic of its genre, and one of the few films to successfully spoof kung fu movies and honor them at the same time. Eventually Lester “loses it” at work and quits his job. He gets a good severance pay because he knows some bad things the company has done. He leaves his job and finds work at a fast food place. He also starts working out, and smoking marijuana too.

Jane meets a boy she likes. Ricky is new in the neighborhood and has his own family problems, but he and Jane find they are falling in love. Ricky is also becoming friends with Lester because he is selling dope to him.
